COMMEMORATIVE ART EXHIBITION RECEPTION:
The Commemorative Art Exhibition is now on display at the Life Enrichment Center. The Exhibition Reception will be on Friday, August 8 from 5 – 7 pm. Come celebrate our talented artists while viewing their work!

LEC FIELD TRIP!
On Tuesday, August 12, 2025 (10am-1pm), join a special docent-led tour of select current exhibitions at the Tampa Museum of Art. Cost: $15 for anyone age 65+. Email info@LECTampa.org or call (813) 932-0241 to sign up or for more information. Space is limited, and drivers are needed for this trip.

Class, Workshop, & Club News

• WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP: Monday, August 4 (9:30am – 12pm) $20 members/$30 non-members. Materials provided. No experience necessary. Develop your watercolor skills with artist Roxanne Tobiason! This workshop is great for beginners who want to explore watercolors as a medium, as well as for more experienced painters who want to practice watercolor techniques. In a paint-along format, Roxanne will guide you step-by-step and help you build colors layer-by-layer as you create a watercolor painting of a summer scene.  NO WALK-INS! • WIRE ART JEWELRY WORKSHOP: Monday, August 4 (12:30 – 2:30pm)  $10 members/$12 non-members.  Learn how to wire-frame a stone to make a pendant. Copper wire and stones provided or bring your own stone. Silver wire available for an additional $12-$18 depending on stone size. Limited spaces available. Register online HERE. • PROSE POEMS: On Thursdays from 10:30am – 12pm the Poetry class meets online and in person. The topic for this week is “Prose Poems Unplugged”. No experience necessary—if you can write a paragraph, you can write a prose poem! Register online HERE, or you can email info@lectampa.org, call (813) 932-0241, or sign up in person.

• BOOK CLUB 2.0 AUGUST SELECTION: Read or listen to Aloha Wanderwell: The Border-Smashing, Record-Setting Life of the World’s Youngest Explorer by Christian Fink-Jensen & Randolph Eustace-Walden. Then join the discussion on Monday, August 25 (10am -12pm). You can find the book at your local library or purchase it online. (Note: This novel may have content not suitable for all readers.)

• MEMBERSHIP REMINDER:  If you have not renewed your membership this year, now’s the time! Stop by the office or renew online. (If you are not sure if you need to renew, just ask.)

• MONET & VAN GOGH INTERACTIVE:  If you are interested in attending the Beyond Van Gogh and Beyond Monet immersive experience at the Straz (Aug. 1 – Sept. 28), please contact Bev at info@lectampa.org or (813) 932-0241.

• WIMAUMA & PLANT CITY OUTREACH INSTRUCTORS NEEDED: If you live in or near Wimauma or Plant City (or are willing to drive), consider becoming an Outreach instructor. Training will be provided. Being an Outreach instructor requires about an hour per month plus driving and planning time. Please help the LEC bring art to seniors throughout the county!
