Bi-weekly News: June 3 edition

FUNDRAISER: Round Up Week
Two ways to participate:

1. Round up any class fee during the week of June 16-20 (For example, instead of paying $8 for a class, round up to $10.)
2. Participate in one of the following Special Events:
   • Mah Jongg Morning: Monday, June 16 (10am-12pm) Open play for intermediate/advanced players. $15/$20 per player. Rates for tables of four are also available.
   • Game Play Afternoon: Tuesday, June 17 (1 – 3 pm) Board games, card games, dominoes. A local game designer will also be in attendance to teach people his latest game. $15/$20 per player.
   • Art for Charity: Saturday, June 21 (10am- 12pm and/or 1- 3pm) Create a work of art on a 6×6 canvas board (provided). The art piece is donated to the LEC to use for various fundraising-related activity. $15/$20 (per piece).

All money “rounded up” during Round-Up week events will be split 50-50 between the Life Enrichment Center and the Alzheimer’s Association’s Longest Day Campaign.

Class & Workshop News:

• Massage Techniques: Saturday, June 7 (10:00am – 12pm) $8 members/$10 non-members. Dale Hartman, LMT, will teach how to safely relieve muscle tension for a family member or friend (or even for yourself). Register online here or you can call (813) 932-0241 or email info@lectampa.org to sign up. (Free for teachers with school ID.)

• NEW CLASS–Intro to Drawing (6-week class) Fridays, starting June 13 (1 – 3pm) $8 members/$10 non-members. Artist Jay Coachman will teach you the basics of drawing step-by-step. No experience necessary!

• NEW WEEKDAY WORKSHOP–Quilling on Canvas: Monday, June 30 (10am – 12:30pm) $50 members/$60 non-members. Supplies provided. Join guest instructor Julia Macek & learn paper quilling techniques to turn thin strips of paper into a scene of frolicking flamingos! No experience necessary! To attend, please pay on or before Wednesday, June 25.

Club News:

• JUNE PHOTO CLUB MEETING: The Photo Club will meet online from 1:30 – 3 pm on Wednesday, June 18. Register here or email info@lectampa.org for the Zoom link.

• BOOK CLUB 2.0: The Book Club 2.0 will discuss Blowing the Bloody Doors Off and Other Life Lessons, a memoir by actor Michael Caine on June 30 (10am -12pm). (Note: This memoir may have content not suitable for all readers.)

LEC News:

• MEMBER SHOUT-OUTS: Shout-outs to our newest members: Beth, Brian, Kathleen, Keith, Jeanne, & Dina! We look forward to seeing you at the LEC.

• DONATIONS NEEDED:  Lysol wipes, Ziploc bags (snack, sandwich, and gallon size), & large back trash bags

• VOLUNTEER AT THE LEC: Volunteers are needed for 2-hour shifts throughout the week. If you are interested or would like more information, email info@lectampa.org, call (813) 932-0241, or let us know in person.

• OUTREACH INSTRUCTORS NEEDED: One day per month, you would lead a paint-along class at a location in Tampa, Temple Terrace, Wimauma, or Plant City. Training is provided. Email info@lectampa.org or call (813) 932-0241 for more information or to become an outreach instructor.
