Weekly News: June 16 – 21

FUNDRAISER: Round Up Week
Two ways to participate:

1. Round up any class fee during the week of June 16-20 (For example, instead of paying $8 for a class, round up to $10.)
2. Participate in one of the following Round Up Week Special Events:

• Mah Jongg Morning: Monday, June 16 (10am-12pm) Open play for intermediate/advanced players. $15/$20 per player. Rates for tables of four are also available.

• Game Play Afternoon: Tuesday, June 17 (1 – 3 pm) Scrabble, train dominoes, etc. Bring a game or play one of ours. $15/$20 per player.

• Art for Charity: Saturday, June 21 (10am- 12pm and/or 1- 3pm) Create a work of art on a 6×6 canvas board (provided). The art piece is donated to the LEC to use for various fundraising-related activity. $15/$20.

All money “rounded up” during Round-Up week events will be split 50-50 between the Life Enrichment Center and the Alzheimer’s Association’s Longest Day Campaign.

Class, Workshop, & Club News

• JUNE PHOTO CLUB MEETING: The Photo Club will meet online from 1:30 – 3 pm on Wednesday, June 18. Register here or email info@lectampa.org for the Zoom link.

• The Life Enrichment Center will be CLOSED on Thursday, June 19 in honor of Juneteenth. Poetry and Pastels will NOT meet that day. Both classes will resume on Thursday, June 26 at their regular times.

• PICK UP A PENCIL: The new Intro to Drawing class, taught by artist Jay Coachman, meets on Friday afternoons from 1-3pm. No experience necessary. Bring a sketch pad.

• RESERVE YOUR SEAT: Sign up sheets are available at the LEC for many upcoming classes and workshops. Make sure you stop by the next time you are in the building!

Other LEC News:

• DONATIONS NEEDED: Lysol wipes, Ziploc bags (snack, sandwich, and gallon size), large black trash bags

• VOLUNTEER AT THE LEC: Volunteers are needed for 2-hour shifts throughout the week. If you are interested or would like more information, email info@lectampa.org, call (813) 932-0241, or let us know in person.

• OUTREACH INSTRUCTORS NEEDED! One day per month, you would lead a paint-along class at a location in Tampa, Temple Terrace, Wimauma, or Plant City. Training is provided. Email info@lectampa.org or call (813) 932-0241 for more information or to become an outreach instructor.

The LEC is celebrating its 45th Birthday on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 10 am to 3 pm. As in years past, we’ll have vendors, demos, and a basket raffle. Come join us! Contact Bev if you would like to donate a raffle basket.
